Firmware

A firmware is what makes your camera run – it’s operating system. New firmwares bring bug fixes and improvements to your camera, so you should try to update your firmware to the latest whenever possible.

You need to be careful not to put the wrong firmware on your camera as this can damage it. Not following firmware upgrade instructions can also damage your camera. We’ve created a Firmware Upgrade PDF for you to refer to when performing the upgrade. It is also recommended you note down or backup your camera settings before proceeding with a firmware upgrade.

How can I be sure which model I have?

Our indoor cameras have a sticker on the reverse of the camera listing what model it is. The sticker is between the Ethernet cable port and the power port and will list the camera name. Other models can be identified by their appearance, so use the pictures below to choose your model.

How do I know if I need to upgrade?

To find out which firmware your camera is currently using, login to your camera (via Y-cam Setup program or by going to its IP address in your browser), select Settings, then System, and look for the number after Firmware Version.

Y-cam S Range These cameras don’t have a microSD slot on the bottom of the camera.		Y-cam SD Range These cameras have a microSD slot underneath.



Y-cam Bullet Range Bullet range updates are only suitable for our Bullet cameras.		Y-cam EyeBall The EyeBall is our palm-sized dome camera.
