  • We use the Y-cam in our Hospitals, both in the Acute and Community settings, and we have found them to be very robust, easy to use and beneficial to our needs.
  • Hugh Doyle , Police Officer, Twickenham
  • Whenever I leave my house I make sure the Y-cam is on, so if anything happens while I’m away, I get to know about it!
  • Stephen Lok, Managing director, Clarence House Financial
  • We have the Y-cam installed throughout our office building. It was the most cost-effective solution we could find and it lets all our tenants log into the building whenever they want

  • The Y-cam Black is one of only two cameras here with infrared night vision, the other being Trendnet's far more expensive TV-IP301W. It records MPEG4 video in 640x480 resolution at up to 30fps, and audio via a built-in microphone.

Setting up the camera is effortless, as is accessing its image and settings over the web. Dynamic DNS and UPnP are supported, and an RTSP server will stream images directly to a mobile phone. You can configure four motion-detection areas for automatic capture, and the camera records smooth video. Image quality is excellent, with almost no noise. Colours have a pinkish cast under artificial light, but in darkness, the 30 IR LEDs do an excellent job of picking out detail. The fixed lens uses a fish-eye effect, which gives it a huge field of vision at the expense of some image distortion.

The Y-cam's black casing is understated, but its IR LEDs, plus the network activity LED, make it conspicuous in the dark. That's not necessarily a bad thing, as it may scare intruders away. There's even a weatherproof shell available for outdoor mounting. Overall, it's superbly versatile and a Best Buy.
