Y-cam seals security at Bradwell Marina – Maritime Journal

We’ve been focusing on Marina security for the last few months here at Y-cam, striving to help Marina owners better protect their sprawling and hard to protect premises with the latest in Y-cam and wireless security technology.
One such marina we’ve helped out is Bradwell Marina, in Essex, where several Y-cam Bullet cameras were installed around the site, allowing the owner to always know what was going on, as well as plenty of other benefits, all for a much lower install cost than traditional CCTV.
The fantastic guys over at Maritime Journal – the only magazine dedicated to European maritime industries – offers an insightful view into the world of the marina business, and this month has covered our Bradwell Marina security installation.
With a full page article focused on the installation, Maritime Journal fully outlined the solution, cost savings and additional earnings that we were able to provide to the marina. It’s a great piece for marinas and boat owners alike to gather information on the potential new technologies that are available to them.
By utilising Y-cam and Jabbakam, Bradwell Marina saved over £25,000 in surveillance and monitoring costs. Active Surveillance provided 11 cameras, installation and easy management of the camera network at a fraction of the price of conventional CCTV. The overall cost to the marina was £15,000.
The cameras are used primarily for security around the marina, keeping an eye on boats and berths in addition to daily dock checks. Mr Thurtle said, “If there is anything untoward happening we always see it on the camera, it helps us greatly”.
The cameras are so effective that they even caught a rare natural occurrence. “We were really pleased that it even picked up a seal, which happens really infrequently. It popped its head up and was caught by one of the cameras. They are just that good”, concluded Mr Thurtle.
