Y-cam Firmware and Software Updates
Posted on Friday, February 5th, 2010
A busy few weeks for our development team here at Y-cam – with new firmwares being released for both Y-cam and Y-cam SD models, as well as updates to our free MultiLive camera viewing software, and Macintosh Setup Software.
MultiLive 1.5 Released
The Y-cam MultiLive surveillance software provides a centralised method for monitoring and recording footage from your Y-cam IP cameras, allowing you to easily record footage, view multiple cameras at multiple locations, and view cameras full screen.
This latest version now supports up to 36 cameras on screen at once, has On Screen Display (OSD) setup, a Snapshot function, and fixes a series of bugs in the program.
The new MultiLive software is provided free by Y-cam for you to install on your Windows-based systems.
Mac Setup Software comes out of Beta
We have been developing our Y-cam Mac Setup software for quite a while, and after trialling with various Mac operating systems, we finally feel ready to bring the Mac Setup Software out of beta in to final release.
The Software hasn’t fundamentally changed, although setup instructions have – there are now OS specific instructions to get the software working correctly. Make sure you consult the "ReadMe.rtf" in the download file (also accessible via menu in the Software). This will ensure the Setup Software works correctly and is able to find your cameras. Following these instructions we have so far had a 100% success rate with finding cameras on a network – so this should alieviate any problems that people have been experiencing with the software.

Y-cam SD new firmware release v4.16
Our newest Y-cam SD firmware updates and refines the current SD operation – making improvements to the ActiveX control, to the DDNS setup, to the upgrade process (so that your configuration is retained during firmware update), and also adds a new extension to all cameras for immediate iPhone access (/iphone). Several bugs are also fixed in this release – including a date and time problem and some camera reboot issues amongst others. This firmware also includes a brand new Homepage splash screen (example below)

The new firmware is a recommended upgrade for all SD camera users.

Y-cam 2nd Generation new firmware release v3.25
Our standard Y-cam (2nd Generation) also receives a minor firmware update – fixing bugs and also including a new ActiveX Control.
This is a minor firmware update and has actually been available from our website since just before Christmas – and we have another firmware update planned for the start of March.
