WiFi Baby Monitor updated on iPhone

We often receive messages from parents wishing to use a Y-cam camera as a baby monitor – it’s great nightvision, recording and Wi-Fi features make sure of that. However parents often ask us for easy ways to monitor their kiddies without the need to boot up their computers. Of course, our free MultiLive app helps the issue, but every so often parents want something a bit more baby-specific.

For iPhone owners, there are two solutions: BabyPing and Baby Monitor HD.

BabyPing is our very own designated BabyMonitor that is totally iOS compatible. It features customizable cry alerts, fantastic night vision, remote viewing and more. More information is available at BabyPing.com.

Baby Monitor HD is a fantastic app from Sunshine Apps that utilises all of the Y-cam features to make the ultimate baby monitoring app for iPhone.

Sunshine Apps have just announced the immediate availability of a new update to the app which allows parents to watch and hear babies during day and night, even with the latest iOS update 4.3.

Baby Monitor HD features

- 4 simultaneous live video feeds
- Audio Support with sound activated alerts
- IR night vision activation
- 3x Digital Zoom capabilities
- Vibrate alerts

Baby Monitor HD can utilise both Wi-Fi and 3G signals on the iPhone, and with remote access possibilities, makes this perfect for parents both at home or on the move.

The current version supports all current Y-cam models and is compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, including iOS 4.3.

Update: Hi Lee, I have heard back from the developers and unfortunately they do not have plans for an Android version, however as they are receiving a lot of requests they might consider it in the in future.

I just bought and installed the software. Yay! finally sound form my Ycam Knight!
The settings work just fine, transfer from local network to 3G works fine.

In combination with Dyndns this is almost perfect.
Why almost? 3 zoom functions are advertised, i could only find and select 2.
1. standard “portrait” small screen.
2. pinch and zoom switches to larger “landscape”

zooming in on the actual image like in the ycam provided MultiLive app for windows is not (yet??) supported.

All in all? a good investment of about 8 euros to have more fun and mobile functionality from your Ycam!

Hi Lee, I have just heard back from Sunshine Apps they say that the 3rd zoom option is shown when you have more than 1 camera configured, ie it’s the small view for showing 4 cameras at once. I hope that this helps and you continue to enjoy the app.

I have 2 mac computers (Imac and PB Pro) both with 10.5 OS. I cannot get the Multi Live software to work on eith computer. Yes I did download the most recent version from your site.

Hello, I have heard back from our support and to combat this issue can you please download our MultiLive for Mac V1, as our V2 does not support 10.5. You can down load V1 by following the link below.

Beware! This update with AAC does not work with the WiFi baby HD app or the Baby Monitor app. So Mac users are still stuck with either using AMR with no sound on the mac or AAC with squelching sound on the iphone.

We purchased the baby monitor this past summer. We have continuing problems with the camera cutting in and out. We have undated our wireless system and we are still dealing with the same issues. We are now wondering if the camera is the problem.

Is the Y-Cam Black S IR camera safe to use
As a baby monitor?

I have mounted it on the cot so we can get a clear
View of her face, I am however worried that
The IR beams could harm her eyes.

I uploaded the most recent update a few days ago and now I have no sound!! I have read in other forums that I’m not the only one this has happened to! Does anyone know how I can un-do the update or fix the sound problem??? I’ve already tried un-installing then reinnstalling & rebooting my phone. Any suggestions out there???
