Pets under Surveillance
Posted on Wednesday, September 8th, 2010
Animals are often a valuable part of a pet owner’s lives and families and when a pet is left alone, hurt or stolen it can be distressing. Story’s like this are becoming more frequent as pet-related crimes are on the rise. However, surveillance cameras for pets, especially mobile animals like dogs and cats, can help bring peace of mind and assurance to their owners.
During the past couple of weeks animal safety has been appearing all over the press; from the ‘cat bin lady’ scandal to thieves stealing a £2500 pedigree pup right from under their owner’s noses. These stories are distressing to all animal lovers and caused nationwide outrage.

IP cameras can, and have, assist in situations like these; both incidents were caught on owners surveillance cameras and have led to nationwide searches for the culprits. When Leanne McGough’s puppy was stolen from her home (above, top) she reacted by searching her surveillance footage for evidence and identification of the thieves, and Stephanie and Darryl Mann caught Mary Bale throwing their pet, Lola, into a wheelie bin. She was identified and investigated by the RSPCA.
Other than catching pet-nappers, Y-cam can provide day to day peace of mind, knowing your pet is safe and secure; with features including motion detection with email alerts, monitor and record live video & audio and mobile phone streaming.
