MultiLive for iPhone news

A few weeks ago we released the latest update for our iPhone app, however it’s become increasingly apparent that this update isn’t working for everyone as well as we hoped it would.
We know how important our mobile applications are to all our customers, and as the iPhone app is our most downloaded, we want to assure you that we are trying to develop and release the best software that we can. We worked extremely hard on this release, with multiple trials, compatibility tests, and much more and multiple people signed it off as being ready – but somewhere we fell short.

What are the problems?
You guys have been vocal with your problems, letting us know exactly what the issues are – this is great as we have been able to identify the key issues and possible temporary fixes, these include:
1. Backward compatibility – When upgrading your app from our previous version you have experienced poor images and dishevelled UI. This is due to conflicts between versions of the app. To resolve this please delete the app and then re-install the new update as a brand new app from iTunes.
2. Edit Functionality not working – After an upgrade, when trying to edit your cameras details within the app you are experience the app crashing and the camera/s appearing off-line. To fix this please delete the camera fully and then re-add your cameras details.
3. Demo camera bug – This bug is causing disruptions to the whole app if you have deleted the demo camera before adding your cameras details. Customers are experiencing offline cameras, buffering and app crashing. To stop this, please delete the app, reinstall as a new application and then add all your cameras BEFORE deleting the demo camera.
4. Poor image quality – Some customers have been unhappy with the image quality against the old app which used the original MJPEG stream. This is caused by the new app using the 3GPP, which we need to use for audio support! We will be adding options in the next update so you can select exactly what stream you want to use.
5. No Audio or poor audio quality – If you are experiencing loss of audio or poor quality please check that your cameras settings are programed to use the AAC stream, as this will provide a much better audio stream. Remember that if you are using 3G to view your camera, your signal will affect how good audio/images are.
Problem not listed?
Help us and others by letting us know your problems and we will update this document. The best way to do this is to download a free app called System Info from the App Store and then email your device details and issue to helpdesk@y-cam.com – we will then investigate the problem. Thank you for your assistance.
What are we doing to fix this?
To start to rectify the issues, we are working on the next update for iPhone as our highest priority, and we have employed a new, specialist member to the Y-cam team to aid in the development of all our future apps including the coming update, which we are hoping to release within the coming weeks.
We would also like to take this time to apologise to all our customers who have experienced any issues with this release and we hope that, with your help, we can rectify the issues, create a great app that we are proud of and rebuild our trust with you guys. Thank you.
